Research & Development

Research and Development

Research & Development can be defined as any project to resolve scientific or technological uncertainty aimed at achieving an advance in science or technology. Those who are working in research & development are termed as scientists with greater responsibilities and sharp knowledge. It is creative work undertaken on a systematic basis in order to increase the stock of knowledge including search of new molecule, synthesis and modification of known molecules or some methods to increase production rate by adopting different techniques.

There are many disciplines, the majority of which are biological sciences related, that work in collaboration through the R&D process in a Pharma industry setting. Common fields for research positions that are involved in the in vitro and in vivo testing of drug candidates include, pharmacology, immunology, molecular biology, virology, microbiology, cell biology and neuroscience. The research and development (R&D) process is a critical stage in drug development in the pharmaceutical (Pharma) industry. The process starts after an initial candidate drug is identified and encompasses the rigorous research tests that determine its therapeutic suitability.
